Parenting Coaching

Is communicating with your co-parent frustrating? Are you worried that information might be getting lost because of tense exchanges? Do you have a history of strong reactions and want an empathetic professional to be present while you read and respond to the newest message on your co-parenting app? Parenting Coaching might be the ideal solution for you.

Parenting Coaching is not therapy or a mental health service. Instead, it is intended to help you gain the skills to successfully navigate the waters of your co-parenting relationship by taking the emotion and reactivity out of your interactions. Alyssha has experience working with moms, dads, step-parents, and grandparents, as well as survivors of domestic abuse and co-parenting situations where there are chemical dependency concerns. She will work with you to keep things child-focused, whether you have a co-parenting relationship or a parallel parenting relationship.

Some examples of situations Alyssha can help you through are:

  • I have a message on our co-parenting app but I'm concerned it's going to be inflammatory. Can you read it with me and help me process it?
  • My co-parent isn't following the court order. What do I do?
  • The kids are telling me about my ex's new partner. How do I handle this?

Divorce Coaching

Divorce and custody proceedings are some of the most stressful things you will ever go through. As a family law attorney, Alyssha understands that you might have a million and one questions, but finding the answers isn't always easy.

Divorce coaching is a client-focused approach to help you understand each step of the process, whether you're working with an attorney or representing yourself. This service is not legal advice and Alyssha is not your lawyer - rather, she's here to reassure you and help you understand why your attorney may be recommending certain courses of action.

Some examples of questions clients may have are:

  • Why do I have to answer discovery requests when I know my spouse won't be honest? Why do I have to respond before they do?
  • My attorney said not to file for a harassment restraining order against my former partner, but I've been told it'll make getting full custody easier. Why shouldn't I?
  • Why can't our kids just tell the judge where they want to live?
  • Don't Minnesota judges always give Mom everything, anyway?
